A box set of four classic romantic dramas from the BBC. In 'Jane Eyre', orphan Jane has a bleak childhood and upbringing, only to find happiness as governess at Thornfield. She finds herself falling in love with her gruff employer, Mr Rochester (Timothy Dalton), but dark secrets from his past return to haunt them both. 'Middlemarch' is a tale of the life and loves of a 19th century townsfolk. Young Doctor Lydgate arrives at Middlemarch hospital determined to do good works. Meanwhile, a romance develops between Dorothea Brooke and the scholarly Edward Casaubon (Patrick Malahide) and the young heroine, played by Juliet Aubrey discovers the passion missing in her marriage when she encounters the youthful Will Ladislaw (Rufus Sewell) - a meeting which changes the course of her life. In 'Persuasion', Captain Wentworth returns seven years after his sweetheart Anne (Amanda Root) rejected him on the advice of her family. Anne's hopes for a rekindled romance are soon dashed, however, by a series of misunderstandings and accidents. 'The Tenant of Wildfell Hall' sees the arrival of Helen Graham (Tara Fitzgerald) as tenant of the decaying Wildfell Hall ruffling the feathers of the local community. However, young farmer Gilbert Markham soon finds himself attracted to the unconventional new tenant.
