Two discs for the price of one CD celebrating 12 years of German-based Ruf Records, the company that has built its reputation and continuing success primarily on tough modern blues recordings with a rock edge. Compiled and annotated by the founder of the label, Thomas Ruf, both the CD and the DVD track back (with entirely different recordings) from 2006 to 1994, when Ruf launched his label with a new album by American bluesman Luther Allison, for whom he was European agent at the time. Sadly, still only in his '50s and in peak artistic form, Luther died of cancer three years later but his legacy lives on at Ruf Records via his son Bernard. This big value compilation also features all the other artists presently recording for the company.
