Product Description Perhaps you remember these guys from the early 80's. Or you may remember them from Slayers' punk cover full length in which they covered five Verbal Abuse songs. Either way this was the first full length done by Verbal Abuse. Its a total hardcore master piece right from the early 80's. Speed, anger frustration and rage all made this full length what it is. After many years of this being out of print Beer City has once again made it available to the masses. Not only does this CD contain the original 'Just an American band ' full length but it also contains a set live from a show that they opened for The Ramones! In this live set are a few songs that have never before been recorded by Verbal Abuse. Not to forget all the power and adrenaline you get to experience from a live show. Review Beer City has done the punk community a service by releasing Verbal Abuse's seminal 'Just An American Band' album. -- SOS / Throat CultureDive headlong into some of the best, most underrated and least heard punk rock the San Francisco scene ever produced. -- Gary Vermin / horrorwoodbabbleon.comEven now after all these years , they still manage to blow every other band out of the water. -- Fug / FUG MagazineThis reissue is 100% essential. -- Daniel / Deep Fried BonanzaThis whole album kicks ass! This was how hardcore was played back in the day and will never be duplicated. -- Read Betweeen the Lies P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Artist When Beer City asked me if they could re-press the Verbal Abuse LP , I had to say yes. At least now this is an authorized release. The release by BitzCore is a bootleg. They never asked us to this day, have never even given us a copy of the record , much less paid us. Theives plain and simple. The Live set is from our 84 tour. On that tour we played with Poison Idea , Die Krezen, Decry , Slayer, Dead Kennedy's , SNFU, Murphy's Law, Cro Mags, Reagan Youth, Agnostic Front, and the Ramones just to name a few. This show was December of 84 at The Ritz in NY with The Ramones. The Ramones did'nt like us and we could care less. Enjoy, Nicki Sicki About the Artist Little did we know it at the time we recorded this album in 1983 , this was to be a journey and a time capsule lasting 18 years and beyond. Verbal Abuse went through many changes but this was the beginning and essence of four punks from Texas. We grew up playing with MDC ( when they were The Stains), The Dicks, The Big Boys, and long before D.R.I. knew how to play instruments. The band moved to SF in 1981, lived in The Vats and survived on Soup Kitchens, Top Ramen and Macaroni-n-cheese, eventually getting a contract with Fowl Records to record this album. See more
