'5-Star' metal is the safest and strongest metal option for casting miniatures from Prince August moulds as it is made from pewter, which is safe for using to cast jewelry for example. This package contains 10 bars of pewter metal. It is an alloy of Tin (94.5%), Zinc (3%) and Antimony (2.5%).A casting temperature of 350 to 390 degrees Celsius is required before pouring liquid metal into any mould. A solder pot is a good choice to melt this metal. It can take up to 20 minutes to heat up on an electric cooker. It melts at about 230 degrees Celsius. The difference between the melting and casting temperatures is required to let the metal fill the mould before it solidifies again.Never use water to cool metal for any reason. Always use a dry warm mould. Bend and break bar with your hands into pieces and melt in a steel ladle over a hotplate or other evenly heated surface. Each bar/ingot has approximately 80 to 85 grams of metal. Metal can be remelted easily to reuse. Do not mix alloys as results are unpredictable.
