Product Description Site your Bee & Bug Biome in a sheltered position from floor level up to 2 metres above ground level on a wall; shed; fence or pole or similar. It is important that it faces South to South East to catch the morning sun. Do not site under shaded tree canopies. The top chamber will encourage safe solitary bees to nest and features seven wooden nesting tubes in a bee block & bamboo tubes of various sizes. The larger feeding hole is for insects such as ladybirds; earwigs & lacewings. Why not try some Ladybird Food/Attractant to encourage them in. If you see the bee block & tubes filled by the end of summer; it is a good idea to cover them with a piece of chicken wire 25mm from the face of the biome to prevent woodpecker attack. The lower chamber is filled with pine cones to provide nooks and crannies for beneficial insects such as lacewings that are great natural predators of aphids. The wooden retainer dowel can be removed so that alternative natural materials such as straw or bark can be introduced to provide a safe over-wintering habitat for lacewings; ladybirds; wood louse; earwigs etc. Try attracting lacewings in autumn with Wildlife World Lacewing Attractant. Use your Species Guide to help identify the solitary bees; mining bees and hoverflies visiting the Bee and Bug Biome and plant the native wild flower seeds to attract helpful pollinators to your garden Box Contains 1 x Insect Habitat 1 x Solitary Bee Wildflower Seed Pack 1 x Solitary Bee Identification Guide 1 x Solitary Bee Life Cycle Guide
