Precious Metal Clay 3 is a fantastic and simple way to create designs in fine silver, from beginner to expert level. The paste in this 18.6g pack of PMC3 contains fine silver particles, along with a water-based binding agent which allows it to be painted to create versatile jewellery designs. It is also ideal for use with mixed media such as glass, ceramics or fireable gemstones. The paste is best suited for joining other pieces of PMC together, covering cracks or creating fine leaves. Once fired, PMC3 can be hallmarked as fine silver (.999). It is very strong once fired, making it ideal for high wear and tear jewellery items such as rings. PMC3 has a shrinkage rate of 10%. This 18.6g pack of PMC3 gives a net silver weight of 15g once fired. This is an eco-friendly product, containing recycled silver. Torch Firing When torch firing, a soft flame will appear around the piece until the binder has burnt away. When this flame has disappeared, heat the piece to the point where a pale orange glow is visible and keep the piece heated at this colour for 3 minutes. Kiln Firing PMC3 should be fired in a kiln at 800°C for 30 minutes when the design is made of PMC3 only. For mixed media designs or designs featuring gemstones, fire at 600°C for 45 minutes. Please note that only certain types of gemstones are safe for firing in precious metal clays.
