If you’re looking for Fathers Day gifts, special occasion presents or something classic to bring to a get-together, Bénédictine is a winning choice. The fascinating story of Bénédictine began centuries ago, with the benedictine monks of the Abbey of Fécamp, in Normandy, France. One of those monks, Dom Bernardo Vincelli, is said to have combined local medicinal plants with oriental spices. The result of his work was the Bénédictine liqueur. Many decades later, the last surviving monk of the abbey passed down the secret recipe to the Le Grand family. Alexandre Le Grand made it his mission to keep the Bénédictine legacy alive by re-creating the recipe. He was passionately committed to protecting the secret recipe, along with preserving the sophisticated production process. That passion, along with the same traditional craftsmanship has been preserved to this day. Bénédictine is a liqueur produced using a unique blend of 27 herbs and spices. It also includes golden honey and fragrant saffron.Since the re-creation of the recipe by Alexandre Le Grand, this subtle alchemy has taken place at Le Palais Bénédictine using a lengthy and complex production process and the original copper pot stills, with some of them dating the end of the XIXth century. The production process begins with 4 unique preparations, each made from different herbs and spices. Large oak barrels, crafted from only the finest wood, are used for ageing. Essential to the process is the blending with honey and saffron after the preparations have been aged for 8 months. Saffron remains the most expensive spice in the world, and is key to ensuring the balanced taste of Bénédictine. It also gives the liqueur its signature golden hue.Le Palais Bénédictine itself is an important part of the story. It’s a half-Gothic and half-Renaissance palace, and the place where the precious elixir is crafted. But it’s also a museum, and a contemporary art gallery that attracts over one hundred thousand visitors every year.Experience the taste that comes from tradition, craftsmanship and a secret recipe passed down for centuries. Experience the exceptional taste of Bénédictine, a truly extraordinary elixir. Manufacturer Contact Information Bacardi Martini Limited, 12 Francis Street, London, SW1P 1QN, United Kingdom
