Quilting with manhole covers is a book of designs taken from manhole covers found in various cities and towns throughout Japan. Intended for quilters, the book includes three versions of the design: a full-color rendition, a black and white silhouette, and a line drawing. A beautifully hand-crafted quilt is pictured with each design. Each chapter contains a comment on a history or culture of the community whose design is portrayed. The preface describes how a simple quilting project, (resulting in her award-winning quilt, "Treasures Underfoot"), became a dedicated effort to bring these unique designs from the obscurity of the Japanese streets, to quilters everywhere.
