Emmental is a traditional Swiss hard cheese that is nutty, unique, and full of holes. It originated in the Swiss Canton of Bern and has since become a popular dish in France. This Alpine classic is incredibly adaptable, especially when grated. Soups, sauces, and pasta dishes all benefit from a dash of Emmental. It pairs well with gratin potatoes, tarts, and baked breads and pastries. It's also a terrific base for the traditional party fondue!
