With modern research methods, the optimum formula for this age-old recipe has been developed, thus eliminating the need to prepare and cook animal protein glue in a hotpot. The result is OLD BROWN GLUE, the perfect liquid hide glue for antique restoration, veneer work, lamination, instrument and chair making, as well as modern woodworking. Made from just two ingredients – hydrolyzed collagen (hide glue) and urea, that’s it! The easy to use, non-toxic/organic, self-bonding formula has a 30-minute open time and requires 24 hours to dry completely. Old Brown Glue is reversible by adding moisture and heat to the elements, this will bring back the protein to a liquid state. Each bottle is marked with a “best before use” date of an 24-month shelf life from the date of manufacture so you can be sure of its quality, which can be extended if kept in a refrigerator, but is not required. To use: warm the glue by putting the bottle in warm water for a few minutes until it becomes liquid. It is best used at 140-160 degrees F, but do not exceed 180 degrees F.
