Product description Menelaos' Raw Greek Sidr honey: No one else who sells Sidr on or elsewhere lab tests it for authenticity. We have received many samples, which contain no Sidr whatsoever. That is why we always test ours. The test on this Sidr from the beekeeper Menelaos showed that the pollen in this honey is 60% Sidr. For Sidr honey to be called monofloral it has to contain 45% or more Sidr pollen. This legendary honey is collected by bees from deep inside isolated pesticide-free forests. Menelaos' Sidr is thick with a rich, lavish and herbal sweet taste. There is a slightly sour and tangy aftertaste. Sidr is a highly valued honey from ancient times and is considered sacred in many religions. It comes from the Lote Tree, which has medicinal properties. The bees feed on the lavish nectar that this tree produces for a short period in the late Spring. Menelaos has his hives close to the Greek border with Turkey in a very wild & under populated area. Forest and scrubland stretch for miles and this is an ideal place for Sidr to grow and for bees to make honey without contamination from pollution and pesticides. Sidr Honey is among the finest variants of honey in the world. The fruits of the tree have high-energy content, its leaves are rich in nutrients such as iron, protein, calcium and magnesium. IMPORTANT: Please know that raw honey does crystalise and this is a natural process that occurs mainly due to the natural glucose in raw honey.
