Maravilloso.

Super Space Game
Bit of an impluse buy for me this one - based on the fact that I love games set in space. Especially with pew pew lazers and missiles etc. Story is a bonus as is tinkering with weapon loadouts and especially control settings. Everspace ticks all those boxes.Loads of reviews on the internet that will give you detail about the game but here are the reasons I like it - a lot :It's a 'Rogue' game - a term I didn't know before but you die (you die a lot) you restart from the 'beginning' but carry over credits and sub-mission progress. Meaning, before starting your next life you can do some levelling up of your pilot skills or space ship. This works surprisingly well. Each level is procedurally generated so whilst you do start again (Level 1, Sector 1) it won't be the same as the last time you played. Slowly you make more progress as you improve at the game and level up.It looks and sounds awesome. All the mission prompts are voiced not just text which I like.Controls are good (recommend control type D and tweak from there).Different ship types change the game from a full on assault type to a real sneak around and snipe. It's a bit like Elite but without all the boring parts and the HUGE learning curve required. My only gripe is that with my control set up I can't manually roll, have to have 'auto roll' enabled. Far better to have a modifier button to allow manual roll. Finally, heads up - the game is currently on sale in the PSN Store for a steal at £6.59! - until 25th August. I was a bit miffed when I found that out, after just buying it...but, honestly I'd rather spend £23 on a good game than £7 on a duff one. At least that's what I keep telling myself!
