THE PROBLEM: The OEM fuel pump / filter assembly ("Horizontal fuel conditioning module" or HFCM for short in Ford-speak) drain plug on these applications features a flush mount and requires a 6mm allen wrench to remove. Unfortunately, due to the under-vehicle location of the pump assembly the plug usually becomes corroded in place, particularly in northern climates. When removal is attempted the allen head often strips out and the plug becomes very challenging to extract. TECH TIP: When rounding of the allen head occurs, use a small sharp punch and a sharp whack with a small hammer to start the plug rotating in the correct direction. FORD'S SOLUTION: Recognizing the problem Ford developed a replacement plug that eliminates the flush design. The new plug sticks out of the HFCM and has a textured grip area - supposedly so the plug can be removed with one's fingers. We find this solution to be less than adequate. The plug still becomes corroded in and quite often a vise grips is needed to break it free - this typically leaves the soft metal of the "improved" plug a gnarly twisted up mess. OUR SOLUTION: Tired of half solutions? We found a better way! Our plug is zinc coated with a brass petcock to minimize corrosion issues and requires no tools. No more rounding off ! (includes a new o-ring) We all know human nature - if something is easy to do, we are more likely to do it. All 6.0L owners should be draining their HFCM's more often to protect their injection systems. Spend a few extra bucks to make the job easy and you may save hundreds or thousands in the long run!

Saved our butt on a 2004 F350 Powerstroke
I guess the guy before us had never changed the fuel filters or drained water. We were on a trip and the engine started running like it had water. We pulled over at an Auto Zone parking lot. We bought a filter kit and pulled the existing drain plug at the lot, drained out so much water!!! Changed the filters. But when we looked at the drain plug...OMG, it was disintegrated and no way was it going to thread back on. NO PARTS STORE had this item. None of them. All 3 Ford dealerships in this city had Parts Departments closed on Saturday. We went through the store looking for a bolt, or anything that might work. Nothing worked. All the threads were wrong. Finally, we saw a drain pan plug with a rubber outer body. We force screwed that thing in and as it cut threads into the rubber, it sealed the hole. We were able to complete our trip.THANKS GUYS for this solution to a Super-Crappy OEM designed part. I'm glad someone had the brains to fix the issue with a sensible solution!

Great Product!!
This is very handy on 2006 f450 Powerstroke 4x4; not a lot of room to get 6mm hex wrench in there. The petcock takes the work out of it

Accurate Diesel should be your first stop for diesel parts!
I ordered parts for my 6.0 diesel over a six month period. Numerous times, I had to go back to the companies and ask questions about the part I bought or another one on their site. Most of the companies really didn't have much enthusiasm to help or they didn't really listen to me when I asked my questions. Accurate Diesel not only listened patiently to this 60 year old grandma working on her 6.0 diesel but explained steps to help me in terms that were understandable without making me feel below them. Recently, I bought a NAPA FICM that NAPA said was flashed when it wasn't. It hydrolocked my truck. Just put in Accurate Diesel's 30% injectors. In the end, dealership said the ficm not being flashed caused the hydrolock and that the injectors needed to be replaced with minutes on them from the oil/diesel mixture getting in them. I called Tim and he told me more accurate information. I have ordered from other diesel companies, Sinister to be one, and have gotten terrible customer service. If you aren't a diesel mechanic with a laptop program and reader, Sinister talked to me leaving me feeling like I was a waste of their time even though I had spent a lot of money there. When I called Accurate Diesel with the same kinds of questions for their products, I was listened to, even with grandma rambling, and had everything explained clearly. This is your diesel stop for anything you need for your truck. They are the best all the way around and their products are EXCELLENT!!!!

Easy way to drain water from the HFCM
It's a smidge cheaper if you buy it from Accurate Diesel directly. I replaced my drain plug since it rusted on me. This is the perfect solution for draining water from your HFCM or taking samples of your fuel. It's neat and clean. Note: Be sure to tighten the drain mechanism to the plug.Installed on a 2006 F250 6.0L Powerstroke
