White sage has a long history of traditional use among Native Americans as an herb for purification, for cleansing the surroundings as well as a person's aura, and for restoring peaceful energy. White sage is burned as incense where the smoke is thought to prepare the atmosphere and the participants before a ceremony begins. The natural resins and oils in the leaves create a sweet aroma that infuses the air with its healing fragrance. Tea made from white sage leaves has proven anti-bacterial properties. Native Americans traditionally drank white sage tea for sore throats, fevers, sinus congestion and used its antiseptic properties to heal wounds. The tea was also used as a wash for cleansing the hair. By rubbing the leaves under the armpit, they made a natural deodorant that relieved unpleasant body odor. White sage grows from the Central Coastal region of Santa Barbara south into Baja as a wild plant, but it has lost much of its natural habitat due to development. Worldwide Botanicals helps support the growth of this wild plant by sustainably cultivating and harvesting it without any chemicals in its natural habitat in the foothills of Santa Barbara. We carefully harvest only during the months of August through December when the oil and resins are highest in the leaf. Worldwide Botanicals’ founder has been sourcing herbs worldwide for 40+ years, working in partnership with suppliers to import the highest quality products and guarantee superior flavor. We are not always the cheapest but our botanicals are the best. Sourced in California
