Arrived without hardware but still excellent product!
Bought this mainly for the ease in installation: everything supposedly included. Got the light, have batteries on hand, but no mounting screws in the box as they are suppose to be. I'm a single woman currently housebound due to cancer treatments and no immune system so I'm not able to run out to the local hardware store and get screws to install this otherwise I would have already done so. I wanted it for one particularly dark corner in the fenced yard for when I have to take my geriatric dogs out after dark. I also can't return it because I don't have a printer so I can't print out the return label from Amazon. It might be a good product but until I can install it I won't know.I did install that batts and I set this out on the a/c compressor in the corner of the yard. It was very windy last night and I wanted to determine if a strong wind (winter snow storm) would trigger it to go 'on' and maybe stay 'on' for long periods of time but the wind last night didn't trigger it. The dogs, however, did from pretty far away. Some of the dogs triggered it and when it came on, they weren't even in the light. That is how responsive it is: they were just outside the illuminated area which, I will admit, was rather impressive. It isn't a bright white light but more bluish as a previous reviewer stated but that does not hinder its ability to light the way. I'll be buying a few more for myself for the yard and placement near the circuit breaker box in the cellar. I have flashlights in every room but once the power goes out (and it goes out a lot here) I can't find the flashlights without bumping into furniture or tripping over the dogs lying around the house on the floor. This would be great in a closet, attic or even a baby's room vs a nightlight: placed on the floor or even under the crib, I think this would illuminate a nursery enough to change a diaper and check on a sleeping child without making the room as bright as turning on a small bureau lamp.12-1-10 CS has already shipped a replacement unit as well as a return shipping label for the unit that doesn't have the hardware included. Can't wait. Now that I've seen it in action, I know exactly where I'm going to install in on the back fence. Two small starter holes with my trusty Dremel and in 2-3 minutes, this 'chore' will be done. Now I'm off to place my order for a few more.12-2-10 ironically, in yesterday's mail I got 24 catalogues...24! I dont read them page to page but I do flip the pages and if something catches my eye, then I'll look further. Strangely enough, I saw this same product, exactly, in 2 of those catalogues. One was $39.99 and the other was $59.99. If you're liking this product, I would think Amazon is the place to buy at such a great price. Just sayin'.November 2011 edit. My first light is still going strong. I have not had to replace the batteries at all since I first installed the fixture on the stockade fence in the back yard. With 6 dogs who go out at all different times, this light gets a workout for certain. I bought a second fixture for further down the side of the house in the same yard because this first one will turn itself off before the dog(s) decide they've found the right 'spot' for what they want/need to do out there in the dark. That was in June/July 2011. And just this week I purchased a 3rd. I installed it approximately 15' from the first one on the back fence because now that is gets dark early, I noticed when my neighbor turns his back steps light on for his dog, it shines right against my back fence and my first-installed light thinks it is daylight and turns itself off, leaving my dogs behind the stockade fence in the dark once again. With the 3 light fixtures now in place, the dogs can see where they are going and I can see the dogs. Couldn't be more perfect. I love these lights.

Great closet light! works great outdoors, too!
I got one of these for a linen closet which doesn't have an installed light. I didn't want to call the electrician, just needed a little light for the closet in the night time. I got tired of using a flashlight or those tap light things that eat batteries like crazy and I often forget to turn them off! I first just stuck it on a shelf, but it shone right in my face instead of at the stuff and laundry chute(duh)...so installed it right over the door with the light shining down. It works perfectly! I don't have to worry about the kids leaving it on (since it turns off with no motion.) It doesn't come on in the day since it is too light in there...so I save batteries. I have had it there for 2 months now and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. I am happy that the mounting bracket detaches from the light to make installation and battery changes easy.It isn't bright like floodlight or a 100 watt incandescent bulb. I looked around to see how many lumens it was, but couldn't find it anywhere. If I had to guess, I would say it was similar to the light given from a 20 watt incandescent bulb...brighter than a little nightlight, but not like a floodlight. And the light is directed out in a cone shape (not like a circle from a regular bulb) so it is more directed rather than general brightness.I am actually here buying more to put on my very dark, outside stone steps. I tried to aim one of these lights up them and down, but they ended up shining in your face either way. So I am just buying more to put one on each of 5 steps facing sideways. Cheaper than most other outdoor lighting options and I don't have to run cords or drill into the stones. They do recommend lithium batteries if you are going to submit them to sub-zero temps...so I guess I need those too! I only wish it came in a plain black color.edit: Put 5 of these on our very dark front steps. One per step (facing in) worked best...one shining up or down the whole staircase kept shining in your eyes..either at the bottom or the top. I have had mine out for 6 months now and haven't needed to change the batteries yet! Everyone who sees them wants to know where I got them! I am here a THIRD time buying more for a dark hallway in my basement! Now every time I go into some dark closet, corner, inside a big undercabinet, etc. in my house, I think "I wish I had one of those motion lights here!!"
