(This material is not meant to be used as a cork board.) Brown Cork is binder free and heat treated. This material will be somewhat brittle and should be installed as sound and moisture guard only. Not suitable for a cork board. The Term "Brown Cork" is a industry standard and is a cost effect, binder free cork.
