Excellent pool pump replacement.
I've had this installed for all of about an hour, so I'm not rating anything other than right now, this pump is awesome. First, it's quiet. (We replaced a pump that had been dying for about a year--and then it did). Yes, I can hear it, but it's so ridiculously much quieter, I barely notice it. Plumbing it in was a pain, because the old pump and the new pump aren't exactly the same size. (You could save yourself that trouble by just hiring a plumber). Electrical was straightforward, but, of course, requires patience to get everything back in the tubing just so. It took my husband about 20 minutes to do that). The water is moving like crazy, the skimmers do their job again, and I have high hopes for the vacuuming. My only disappointment is the skimmer basket size. My pool lives under a maple tree, so I foresee a whole lot of emptying the skimmer basket in my near future. Overall, I'd say it's well worth the price here(which is a lot less than the pool stores here charge).

Quiet and Reliable, very good value
I purchased this pump almost two years ago and it has worked very well in my 10,000 gallon inground pool. It replaced a pump that had slightly higher peak horsepower and it provides flow that is quiet and more efficient. I live in Florida and the pump runs all year. I use shorter run times in the colder months of about four hours per day and during summer months, 12 hours during first month it is in use and then 10 hours per day for the rest of the time. Again, it has been trouble free since I purchased it in 2016 and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

Very dependable
I got the pump a couple moths ago and my old pump had been dead all winter. My pool/pond was a mess. When I first had the pump hooked up, we ran it for about 3 days straight with no rest. I was afraid it might burn out, but it kept going strong. It took about a month to get the pool water clear, and I ran the pump more than I will probably ever have to again so long as I keep up the pool. I am very pleased with how it works. my pool is on the borderline of 1 HP or 1 1/2 HP. But this 1 HP pump works great. The pool is crystal clear, and all that extra use didn't raise the electric bill as much as I thought it wood. it had a reputation of being a very dependable pump, and I can sure vouch for it. Very good price too.

Powerful efficient pump, difficult to wire...
Here's a link to some photos on Amazon Photos. Amazon doesn't let you add Amazon Photos to your Amazon Review. Whatever. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/bZHwhZ3cTHabCSQDVwr9-Q.LttJWBauYj-F0G0dYVysKv1st my pool is an above ground that is 21X42. It is half way in ground with a deep end of about 7 feet. I estimate that it is about 20K to 25K gallons. It was professionally installed by Giant Pool Service in Sacramento in 2013. I'm replacing the previous 1.5 hp Hayward pump (which was 9 years old when I bought it) with this 2.1 hp Hayward.Pros: this big 17 AMP mutha moves a lot of water. It's factory set to for 220 wiring but you can change one little setting to make it 110. I went 220 and used 12 ga wire which was recommended by my good buddy who is a pool guy and knows this business inside and out. I also have a long supply run of about 36 inches coming into the pump. I know you need a good length of supply run coming in to the pump, ie, you can't have an elbow and only a couple inches of supply. But I don't know if you need 36 inches. My last pump was 1.5 horse and I first tried a 5 inch supply run. When that failed my buddy Luke told me I needed a longer supply line, ie, more straight pipe in, so I re-plumbed and put about 18 inches. This time around I decided that the bigger 2 horse motor might want more volume in, and I had the room, so I gave it 36+ inches of supply.I've had the pump in now for four days and it has been awesome. The volume that it's turning water around almost makes my head spin. I can feel the water coming into the pool through the returns and it's very powerful. More so than with the previous 1.5 hp pump. And from the house I can see the water shimmering letting me know that water is moving out there.Cons: it's tough to get 12 ga wiring in there. The entry hole for the wiring gives you about an inch before you have to attach the wires around the screws. This means you have to make a loop in the wire, get the loop around the screw, and then tighten the screw over the wire. If you had a lot of room to work this would not be a con. But you have literally a couple inches of space so it is a pain in the ass. NOTE: I temporarily disconnected the factory wiring that makes it 220. This gives you more room to work. But be sure to reconnect the plug correctly. There are arrows that align for either 220 or 110 so just pay close attention.Back to the loop and screw wiring.... This manner of connecting wire is actually pretty lame. Instead of having to loop around a screw -- for two different wires bc it's 220 -- you should have the straight wire connection that either pushes in to make the connection; or tightens down on the 1/2" exposed end of the wire. But getting a curved 12 ga wire in the right place, in those cramped conditions is just a stupid design. Plain and simple stupid. And brings this rating down to a 4.

New Haywood Pump is Quiet and more Efficent
So far so good! We received this pump in ONE day! We upgraded from a 1 to 1.5 horse power and we can see a big difference. This pump is so much more quiet than our old Hayward pump. The old pump was here when we bought the house so not sure about it, we kept having to replace the motor and a "pool guy" suggested we move up a 1/2 horse power since our pool size was near the top of the range for the 1 horse power. My husband and his friend were able to install it themselves. The local prices were almost double. They had a little trouble getting it to prime, but then realized they had one piece of piping installed incorrectly, once that was corrected it started up fine. When you look in the "tank" the water is so clear it looks like it is empty. I highly recommend this pump for residential use.

Works but not a direct fit for older to newer models
Works. However I had a maxflo before and although it does say direct replacement/ fitment, it does line up with the older pump but the fittings are larger on this model. Is likely older pumps won't be as direct of a fit. I had to plumb the new lines to the new pump. Wiring was easy. It was a direct fit there. And it's about the same noise level as my older pump.
