American saxophonist and clarinetist Bennie Maupin came to prominence in the 1960s as one of the most distinctive new voices in jazz. After working with jazz greats including Roy Haynes, Horace Silver and Jack DeJohnette, in 1969 Miles Davis invited Maupin to participate in the sessions for Bitches Brew. From there, Maupin joined the ranks of the jazz elite, and in the early 70s formed an alliance with Herbie Hancock. This Dutton release marks the first ever CD reissue of Maupin s two late 70s albums Slow Traffic to the Right (1977) and Moonscapes (1978).
