3/16 inch Short Molly Bolt / Hollow Wall Anchors are used in wallboard, plaster, paneling, doors, and other soft, hollow base material. Fixtures can be removed and replaced without need to replace an anchor. A molly anchor works by expanding its legs after being inserted through a pre-drilled hole and tightened with the screw on the head of the anchor. This pulls the legs flush to the back of the wall and the head flush to the object you are securing. Dimensions: 1/4 inch Long (2 1/2 inches). Installation Instructions for molly bolts: 1. Pre-drill a hole that is the diameter of the anchor you are using. Smaller molly holes may be punched with an awl. 2. Insert the anchor through the fixture being hung and into the pre-drilled hole. (A washer can be used to seperate the screw head and the fixture for more holding strength and less surface pressure on a specific area.) 3. Tighten the screw and the molly will contract its legs while the head grips the outer wall causing a tight anchoring of the fixture to the wall.
