You will notice that the more you use your gourd, the better the taste of your Yerba Mate will be. Fill the Mate three-quarters cup of Yerba Mate. Pour hot (not boiling) water into the cup until full. Let the Mate sit in a well-ventilated area for 24 hours, filling it with water while the gourd absorbs it.
